Thigh Lifting refers to operations that remove skin and fat from the upper and inner leg (thigh) in order to improve the body contour, by removing excess soft and falling tissues from it.
-
Length
Two to four hours, depending on the amount of tissue to be removed. Usually requires at least one change of position, as patients are switched from front to back or vice versa.
-
Anesthesia
General anesthesia is administered and the patient is completely asleep. The procedure can also be performed under intravenous sedation and local anesthesia.
-
Inpatient/Outpatient
Either is possible depending on the patient’s medical condition and the preference of the surgeon.
-
Possible Side Effects
The most common is dehiscence of the wound, at the intersection of the suture lines in the groin by excessive tension, by the movement of the patient. Extended scars may also occur because of the tension in these areas.
-
Risks
Similar to risks associated with any surgery, including infection and hematoma.
-
Recovery
It requires three to four weeks of movement restriction, including not opening the legs or excessive bending. This procedure is preferable in colder months of the year, because postoperative compression clothing is critical to the outcome.
-
Results
This type of surgery is generally well tolerated and appreciated by patients.
